What the Locals Like to Do...

  • Have a sunset picnic at Kruse Park on the boardwalk and take home a pizza from Zalomas
  • Walk the channel when the Milwaukee car ferry enters and leaves Muskegon lake– about 10 minutes after it leaves the breakwater it sends a few big waves to the beach near the Deck
  • Boogie board when the waves on Lake Mi are breaking
  • Swim Muskegon Lake Beach near Dockers,  if the big lake is cold this spot tends to be 10 degrees warmer
  • Drive to the blockhouse and hike, or park at snug harbor park and walk-up
  • Behind the water filtration plant is an awesome dune top walk above the boardwalk
  • On a RAINY day… Visit the Muskegon Museum of Art, Submarine Museum, or  Hackley House
  • If you have kids under 10…Heritage splash pad by the post office is a great spot for playtime
  • Party in the Park downtown Fridays – live music, bring a chair
  • Weekly McGraft Park concerts during summer – grey hairs meet up
  • Lakeside Emporium Candy shop and Hey Sugar cotton candy across the street
  • Free public fire pits at Pere Marquette Park
  • Saturday night drum down the sun parties
  • Farmers Market – schedule varies
  • Wine and Cheese tasting – The Cheese Lady
  • Check out the glass floors at the Hackley library
  •  Machine gunner photo op outside the Silversides Museum
  • Panfish on Muskegon Lake along the bike path in lakeside near Ruddiman Creek
  • Walk and watch the dog beach at the south end of Pere Marquette park
  • Ride the bike path to North Muskegon or the beach
  • Disc golf at McGraft Park
  • Zipline or luge at the winter sports complex
  • Take butterfly nets to the Duck Lake channel and catch minnows
  • Blueberry picking season – July/August
